The Governor of HongKong to the Secretary of State
for the Colonies.
(Received Colonial Office 7.35 a.m. 14th August, 1913)
Your cypher telegram of 8th August. General Lung arrived at Canton on 11th August. Owing to quarrels between his troops and portion of local troops desultory fighting broke out next day and continues.
General Officer Commanding
can send a battalion and four guns to protect the railway and the Commodore can assist with gunboats to protect Sheklung bridges. These arrangements have been made with knowledge
of Alston.
It is not expected that necessity for the employ- ment of land force will arise but His Majesty's Ship "Robin" has been sent to watch the bridges at Sheklung.
T
MAY.
